Kovalam Beach Town

Kovalam is a beach town on the Arabian Sea in Kerala, a state in south India. It is situated around 13 km from downtown Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum).Its a nice beach for Tourist. It is internationally famous beach of Kovalam for tourist.
How to reach:
Rail: Thiruvananthapuram central, about 16 km
Air: Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, about 10 km.
About Beach
It has three curved shaped beaches separated by rocky outcroppings. Shallow waters stretching for hundreds of metres are ideal for swimming. The beaches have sudden palm enclosed headlands and are lined with shops that offer all kinds of goods and services.
Light House Beach is a larger beach among three beaches where is 35 metres high light house which over it atop Kurumkal hillock.
 Hawah Beach is the second largest one beach where the topless European women used to throng there. It is the first topless beach in India.
Samudra Beach is the northern part of the beach in tourism parlance. It doesn’t have tourists thronging there or hectic business but the fishermen work their trade on this beach. The sands of all the beaches in Kovalam are partly black color due to the presence of ilmenite and thorazite.September to May is the best season for normal tourist .Asoka beach is also the part of Kovalam beach.
Tourist Facilities
There are a large number of beach resorts situated in and around Kovalam. Vizhinjam sea port is about 3 km away which famous for varieties of fish, old Hindu temples, big churches and a mosque. Kovalam is the most prominent tourist spots in India during the hippy era. Kovalam beach town includes light of several Ayurvedic cottages, convention facilities, shopping zones, swimming pools; Yoga and Ayurvedic massage centers which provide wide variety of Ayurvedic treatments for tourists etc.
