Jagannath Puri or Purusottama Puri is 60km far away from Bhubaneswar it takes 1 and half an hours by bus (bus fair-25 to 50rupees but 2 hours by train is a pilgrimage town with the famous temple of Lord Jagannath and is a major tourist destination with all its beautiful and pleasurable sights. Puri is well connected by Railways. Trains are from Kolkata (Howrah jn), New Delhi, Ahmedabad, etc. It is also a major railhead on the East Coast Railway, bifurcated from Khurda Road Jn. Jagannath Temple: It is the most attraction point of tourist in puri.Lord Jagannath, the symbol of universal love and is worshiped in the Temple along with Balabhadra, Subhadra, Sudarshan, Madhaba, Sridevi and Bhudevi on the Ratnabedi or the bejewelled platform. The Deities, Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, Subhadra and Chakra Sudarshan are made of margosa wood.
Gundicha Mandir: The Gundicha Ghar or Gundicha temple is an important part of the famous Rath Yatra festival of Puri.
Atharnala Bridge: The magnificent Atharnala Bridge that was constructed during the 13th century is a living example of the engineering marvel of the ancient times.
Beaches in Puri: It is also an attractive place in puri.Puri is also famous for sea beach. Puri’s white sand beaches are well known all over the country. It is not far away from Jaganatha temple.
Once every year, the famous Rath Yatra or car festival is held in the months of June-July at Puri. The beach festival is celebrated in the later part of March or early April, and showcases the best of Orissa’s folk and classical dance forms, music and handicrafts. Nava Kalebara is a local festival of an immensely significant religious ritual, when the three temple deities Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra change their external forms.
